"There was only an old worm asleep on a tree stump."「切り株」

●Ice Cream

Toad licked one of the cones.「なめる」

it splattered on his pants and on his feet.「はね散らす」

"Something covered with sticks and leaves is moving this way!" cried a squirrel.「リス」

"Good heavens!" said Frog.「なんてこった、こりゃ驚いた」

"Drat," said Toad.「ちぇっ」

●The Surprise

"I will rake all of the leaves that have fallen on his lawn. Toad will be surprised."「(熊手で)集める」

Frog took a rake out of the garden shed.「熊手」「庭小屋」

"These messy leaves have covered everything," said Toad.「散らかった」

He raked the leaves into a pile.「積み上げた山」

●Christmas Eve

The hands of the clock moved to show the hours of a merry Christmas Eve.「時計の針」

A snake crawled out of the grass.「はう」

"We want to see him too," said two dragonflies「とんぼ」

He was beginning to shiver and sneeze.「震える」「くしゃみをする」

●The Letter

Don't be silly.「冗談はよせよ、ばかなことを言うな」
